5 Ups & 2 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Mar 8)

2. An Oblivious Champion

In recent weeks, this column has been fairly critical of Johnny Impact's actions as World Champion. He goes from being a fighting champion to being a complete coward, all because he has the imposing threat of Brian Cage, Killer Kross, and Moose all at the same time. The champ even walked out of a tag match last week alongside Cage against Kross and Moose, claiming to have a neck injury.

This week, Johnny was backstage in a neck brace, claiming that injuries do indeed happen. Even with his injury though, he still intends to defend the title against Brian Cage down the line. It was a short segment, but remained effective throughout. Impact is coming across as being oblivious to the fact that Cage likely wants to take his head off with one of those discus lariats, yet he's being all calm and acting as if everything's fine.

It's certainly a different route to be going down for Impact. From what we're seeing so far however, it's looking to be a great move by all involved. This is an angle that could get real interesting as the weeks go by.
