5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE King And Queen Of The Ring (Results & Review)
3. All Hail Queen Jax
Since returning to WWE, Nia Jax has been a much-improved in-ring performer, delivering better matches and carrying herself (and being booked) like the monster she should have been during her previous run with the company.
By booking Nia better, WWE also has enabled her opponents to look better in fighting from underneath against her. Lyra Valkyria was the latest wrestler to get that treatment Saturday in the Queen of the Ring finals, as she constantly tried to ground and bring down Jax with sleepers and repeated strikes and kicks.
Jax used her size and strength to control much of the match, but Lyra came back several times, including a wheelbarrow bulldog, tornado DDT, and a diving leg drop at various points. However, Valkyria’s attempted sunset bomb proved to be her undoing, as Nia simply turned that into an Annihilator for the win.
Nia will never be a workrate fan’s darling, but she is doing a lot right during this run, and a turn as Queen of the Ring could be really fun with a heel Jax hamming it up and looming as a challenger for Bayley at SummerSlam.
