WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024 Bronson Reed Chad Gable Sami Zayn

The Intercontinental Championship feud between Sami Zayn, Chad Gable, and Bronson Reed might have sputtered in recent weeks on Raw, but the match itself on Saturday delivered what was promised when the rivalry began taking shape.

The action was nonstop, with Sami taking the fight to both challengers repeatedly, even getting Reed off the ground with a Blue Thunder Bomb after several tries to further electrify the crowd. Gable showcased his strength by hitting a double German suplex on both opponents, while Bronson went aerial a few times, hitting a dive to the floor and attempting a moonsault on Zayn.

There were plenty of smooth sequences throughout, and with Sami being the heavy fan favorite, crowd energy was high throughout. The outcome – Zayn retaining – was pretty obvious given the framing of the match, but they kept things entertaining and gave each man an opportunity to shine.

Of course, there was the expected Alpha Academy shenanigans and drama, but that was kept to a minimum and crammed into a few short moments toward the end, which didn’t detract from Zayn picking up the win by pinning Reed. Given the poor build in the past couple of weeks, Sami needed a solid title defense here, and he got it.
