5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (5 July - Results & Review)
Ups…
5. Look On The Positive Side
One of the biggest problems with that MITB pre-amble is you know it won't mean much for most come next week. It'll be like nothing ever happened to everyone but the one who hauls down that case. Things are different for Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. WWE is playing the patient game with their story.
Sure, Cargill and Belair beating Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae in a few mins was hardly thrilling, must-see telly, but the superhero-like babyfaces getting right back in the hunt for the Women's Tag Titles is a solid plan. Look at it this way: If they ultimately fail to wrestle the belts back, then Belair can pin the blame on Jade and they can spin off into a feud.
Working with Bianca has been helpful to Cargill. Working against the 'EST' on house shows (in particular) would be a real education. That'd do the ex-AEW star the world of good. It's important at this stage in the game that Jade gets in as many reps as possible. The more matches, the better, and demo'ing a carefully-constructed PLE clash vs. Belair on live events sounds like the way to go.
At least they've got direction.
