5 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory 2018

Downs...

3. Pre-Match Ambush...

Considering all the hype surrounding LAX vs. the OGz, you'd imagine Impact wouldn't do something like this. But alas, Konnan was ambushed before the match.

Konnan's decreased in-ring abilities was the reason. Aside from an appearance in MLW's Battle Riot in July, Konnan hasn't had a proper match since 2013. Seeing as he's 53 years old and debuted in 1987, it's easy to see why. At this point, he should be nothing more than a manager/mouthpiece for Ortiz and Santana.

This was a hotly-anticipated bout, especially with the ceasefire preventing the two sides from getting physical with each other until the go-home. The main story within the arc was Konnan wanting to get his hands on King. He did actually get slightly handsy with the OGz as he took out Homicide and Hernandez with a flapjack, but it just seemed a bit of a letdown.

At least it didn't harm the rest of the match however. Ortiz, Santana, Homicide, Hernandez, and King still put on one hell of a bout, but the angle with Konnan prevents it from reaching its full potential. Unfortunate, seeing as it's something outwith Impact's control.
