5 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Nov 15)
2. Really, Another Match?!
Do Tessa Blanchard and Taya Valkyrie know exactly why they're fighting each other, or do they just want something to do? The entire story for their rivalry has been based around Tessa cheating to cling on to her Knockouts Championship, retaining against Taya on two separate occasions now. Now, a third bout has been made official for the upcoming Homecoming pay-per-view on 6 January.
But why?
The thing that's wrong here isn't really the fact that they're facing off for a third time. In-ring wise, it's all good. It's the question of why not have some sort of stipulation on the match to ensure Tessa can't cheat to retain again? Make it a No Disqualifications Match, a Street Fight, a Last Knockout Standing Match, whatever. It just seems pointless to have Taya happily going in to another match, knowing fine well that Tessa will likely attempt to cheat once more.
A stipulation may yet be added - there's still seven weeks before Impact host the event after all - but until then, it leaves the match rendered pointless.
