5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT Battleground (Review)

1. Tiffany Earns Her Spotlight

What can you say about Tiffany Stratton that hasn’t been said already? The young superstar might have less than three years in the business, but she delivered a solid performance Sunday night in capturing the vacant NXT Women’s Championship.

Stratton beat back Lyra Valkyria in the finals of the tournament at Battleground by targeting her opponent’s already injured knee. That simple and straightforward story worked exceptionally well, as the injury played into the closing moments, when Tiffany capitalized and hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the title.

It’s obviously far too early in her career to judge whether Tiffany is ready to take the spotlight solo and run with it, but she earned that opportunity Sunday night and showed that she can at least meet the moment.

The real test for Stratton will come as she continues to perform in front of larger crowds and the opportunity to practice everything shrinks. Serious kudos to Tiffany, but now the real challenge begins.
