Right, it’s crucial to mention here that the impending gauntlet match to crown a number one contender for the NXT UK Women’s Championship is likely going to be a fun collection of mini-matches. Jinny, Isla Dawn, Xia Brookside, Dani Luna, and Emilia McKenzie working together screams banger.

Where are the others, though?

Assistant general manager Sid Scala brought the defending champion Kay Lee Ray to the ring to inform her of the bout. ‘The Forever Champion’ noted how she’s seen off all challengers since the end of August 2019 before Scala made the announcement, with KLR dismissing them all. None of them were worthy of lifting the title, Kay Lee stated.

The promo was fine, but why these five? Xia Brookside, for example, has spent the last while bossing around Nina Samuels, whereas Dani Luna has only had one NXT UK victory thus far. How does this get her in a contendership bout?

Aoife Valkyrie being missing from the match is surprising, considering up until this week, she had been undefeated in NXT UK. The lack of her here can literally only be put down to the fact that at the time of the announcement, she was preparing for a bout vs. Meiko Satomura. Weak, dire booking here. Looking forward to the match, though.
