5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (29 April)
2. Smashing Mugs
Sha Samuels vs. Levi Muir was seemingly intended to be a straight-up squash match for ‘The East-End Butcher’. That’s how it had been promoted, at least. Instead, it was a competitive match that saw the apparent jobber Levi Muir get in a good amount of offence.
Sha attempting a shoulder tackle on Levi early on in the match, only for Muir to wipe it off as nothing. The match than transcended into a dull affair that achieved literally nothing it set out to do. This was supposed to be Sha’s comeback moment following his and Noam Dar’s loss to Moustache Mountain; instead, it was an almost coming out party for Levi Muir, until he was decimated via a Lariat and match-ending Spinebuster.
The right winner, sure, but a better match was needed. Levi Muir is essentially taking the role of Jack Starz right now following Jack’s promotion from jobber to lower mid-card. It’s impossible to get properly invested in Sha’s NXT UK run when he’s treated like this. He might be winning matches, but he’s certainly not doing so in convincing fashion.
