What a banger of a match this was.

Meiko Satomura and Aoife Valkyrie had unreal chemistry together. Their exquisite technical showcase early on laid the perfect groundwork for what was to come. The sheer displays of wrist control made for tantalising viewing.

An array of kicks lit up this bout, with Valkyrie in particular taking a severe beating. She was clearly favouring her leg from the middle of the match onwards, having been trapped in a neat modified figure four leglock. The Irishwoman didn’t let this hinder her, though, continuing to execute her leg-based offence. That step-up enzuigiri had no right to sound as loud as it did.

Aoife’s failed attempt at her diving legdrop finisher allowed NXT UK’s ‘Final Boss’ to down her with the Scorpio Rising kick. It’s such a perfect, match-ending manoeuvre that also tied into the match’s story; she had been felled at a previous attempt, meaning that she preceded this attempt with a running DDT to feign Valkyrie in.

A show of respect post-match brought an end to this fun bit of business. A legitimately must-see NXT UK bout – not often you can say that. Valkyrie’s undefeated streak has ended at precisely the perfect place; she still needs to be added to that Women’s Championship contendership gauntlet match, though.
