5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (18 Dec - Results & Review)
DOWNS…
3. Kofi Claus Is Coming To Town
Throughout the years, WWE has utilized various wrestlers as Santa Claus on their programs, including Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mark Henry and Mick Foley.
Kofi Kingston took his swing at it Monday night, and it just didn’t work. It wasn’t because of Kingston himself, but the way in which he was booked throughout the night. Kingston was at ringside throwing T-shirts out to fans, but he was backstage giving Imperium coal and doing patter with the new women’s tag champs Kayden Carter and Katana Chance.
He then got beat up at ringside by Imperium to help set up an impromptu match for Jey Uso and Ludwig Kaiser. (At least he didn’t get hit by Alberto Del Rio’s car, so he wasn’t the unluckiest Santa in WWE history)
None of this was offensive, but it was all just a waste of time and space on Raw. It wasn’t rewarding or particularly entertaining, meaning it just ate up minutes of the broadcast and happened to be Christmas-themed for the season.
