5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (16 May - Results & Review)

2. A Weaker Triple Threat

Skip this Triple Threat and watch the women's one instead. That's good advice, 'cause Solo Sikoa vs. Rey Fenix vs. Jimmy Uso was a little too slow for the guys involved, and it played before long periods of silence from the live crowd as a result. Admittedly, they kicked things up a notch for the finishing stretch, but it was a little bit too late. There was far too much in the way of boring heat work from Solo.

It also kinda sucks we won’t see Fenix in a MITB ladder match too. That’s perfect for the likes of him, but now he'll be on the couch or in catering looking on. Sikoa's rehab is important, but WWE really should've stuck Rey in the ring at Money In The Bank so he could do some spectacular highlight reel stuff that'd grab clicks when clipped up for socials.

There seemed to be some pesky communication issues between all three at various points here as well, and that included referee Charles Robinson. The striped ex-WCW lifer totally missed a roll-up pin attempt by Fenix at one stage, and nobody has any earthly clue what he was staring at; Wade Barrett did say that SmackDown was in his hometown and that he might've been gawking at family.

Yeah, the women’s three way was much, much better. Their one had a pace to it that these guys couldn't match. Communication miscues between brothers is always confusing too. Jimmy and Solo don't appear to have any chemistry these days, and Fenix was just sort of there.

Bland. Functional for MITB qualification, but bland.
