5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Apr 24)

2. A Totally Flat Main Event

So far in this story, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have laughed off suggestions that Dana Brooke and Carmella could beat them, 'Mella has ridiculed Dana's abilities (after choosing her as a tag-team partner) and Brooke has qualified for Money In The Bank. None of that build worked when setting up this Women's Tag Title match.

Fans couldn't be expected to care when the champs treated their challengers like morons, Carmella dissed Dana and Brooke set her sights on singles success. The end result was a main event tag match that trundled along without any sense that the reigning champions were in trouble or that the Brooke/Carmella combo could get a surprise win.

It was pointless.

Now, WWE will move on from the Dana and 'Mella tag-team, pretend it never happened (just like Dana's teams with Naomi and Lacey Evans) and find the next duo to suit this never-ending cycle of forced-together, two-week feuds.
