5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 26)
Ups...
5. That Big Man/Little Man Dynamic
No, Happy Corbin isn't a giant like Omos, but he's still a lot bigger than Ricochet. Together, both dudes put forward a big man vs. little man dynamic that clicked from minute one and just got better as the match rolled on. That's a huge compliment to them, especially when they've got such little story to work with as characters currently.
Corbin was the solid base Rico could buzz around, and this isn't the first time these guys have worked well as opponents (their match on the 5 August SmackDown was every bit as good). Also, it's pretty sweet to see one of WWE's flagship TV shows open up with a hyper-competitive match like this one.
High-fives all round.
Ricochet is receiving a slow-burning resurgence under Hunter's watch. Meanwhile, Corbin is ticking along as a villain who's just credible enough that beating him matters. Maybe, just maybe, this can springboard Rico into something more substantial by the end of the year.
