5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 21)

Ups...

5. The Elitist Champion

Paul Heyman Tamina Natalya

This was the right call.

Realistically, an arrogant mega-heel like Roman Reigns wouldn't be seen hanging around with all the other champions on SmackDown. He'd consider himself above that, and would logically send Paul Heyman out to explain why he wasn't there. So, it's a good thing that WWE went that route.

Some may argue that this sh*ts from an almighty height onto all the other champs, but they're background noise to the Universal Title scene anyway. It's not like anybody considers Dominik Mysterio or Tamina to be competition for Roman - that's not a knock, it's just the truth.

Everybody worked this segment well. Sonya Deville was inoffensive, Apollo Crews got to cut a nice promo, it led to a fun match (albeit one with an annoying ending) and Heyman was on top form. To be fair, that's a given from Paul E.
