5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 22)

Downs...

3. Jeff Hardy's Lucky Win

Sheamus was booked to dominate most of his match against Jeff Hardy, which is fine. Then, Jeff was booked to win by using a chance roll-up as Michael Cole acted all surprised, which isn't. The ending to what was actually a pretty well laid out bout sucked, and it felt a little lazy.

Fluky wins always do unless they're used by underdogs.

Hardy is not an underdog - he's a returning hero who believes he has one final chance to set things right and pay back fans who supported him through personal strife. Here, he looked out his depth against a bully boy heel and then got to thumb his nose after catching Sheamus off guard.

A much more satisfying finish would've been Jeff winning via Swanton Bomb. That's his most potent weapon, and it's a definitive, credible ending that'd help his momentum in the Intercontinental Title tourney. The roll up sucked.
