The women’s WarGames match could be safely broken down as a tale of two halves: before and after Iyo Sky jumped off the cage wearing a trash can.

The beginning stages of the contest saw each competitor enter the match at three-minute intervals, with everyone attacking each other and the balance of power flipping back and forth between Damage CTRL and Team Bianca repeatedly. There were a couple of cool spots – Bianca Belair press-slamming Kairi Sane onto Bayley and Iyo was a highlight – but it felt like they were holding everything back until the frenzy of the full match actually began.

As a result, the first 18-19 minutes were not that memorable – until Sky flew off the cage just before Asuka entered last. There wasn’t a real cohesive story being told; even Bayley’s MVP status didn’t kick in until the waning minutes of the entire match.

A small gripe, but still one worth noting.
