5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Survivor Series 2023 (Results & Review)

2. Not Even A Noble Failure

WWE Survivor Series Gunther The Miz

There’s a universe in which Miz wrestled up to Gunther’s level and provided a serious challenge for the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.

And then there’s what happened Saturday night, with Gunther wrestling at half-speed, uncharacteristically playing to the crowd and selling for Miz’s lame It Kicks that barely made contact.

After watching Gunther deliver incredible title defenses for the past year-plus, no one was holding their breath that Miz’s challenge was going to top them, but the hope was that he’d step up and do more than wrestle his usual match. That’s not what happened.

Instead, Gunther came way down to Miz’s level, and the match suffered as a result. Watching the Ring General sell a knee injury and flail around trying to chop the Awesome One down was almost depressing.

Please make this a one and done and don’t try to milk this for another match.
