Downs...

4. “Claudio Certainly Has A Reason For Revenge”

AEW Collision
AEW

AEW dug up footage from December 2022 to explain why Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Top Flight was booked for this week's Collision. Fair enough, and fair play to those in-house for remembering a random Rampage Battle Royal even happened, but...was it actually necessary? As in, did the tag need context this flimsy?

Look, trying to justify matches and make them seem less random/one-off is fine, but the idea that Claudio waited approx a year and a half to "get revenge" is a bit much. Behave! Tony Khan really wants people to believe that Castagnoli sat on a Rampage loss everyone forgot 10 minutes after it happened?!

Yikes.

Here's the problem: That isn't actually proper storytelling at all. No, it highlights a flaw in AEW booking that has turned some away. Basically, an awful lot of their content happens for the sake of it and never leads to much. Choosing to draw attention to that here was a puzzling choice.
