5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Feb 4)

4. Keep Searching, Shawn...

Colin Delaney
AEW

Shawn Spears' search for his perfect tag team partner continues. Colin Delaney, predictably, wasn't the guy, taking the fall in a good match against the Best Friends of Chuck Taylor and Trent, having eaten the Strong Zero and the pinfall with Spears and Tully Blanchard walked out on the bout. Poor bastard.

This was the most notable development coming out of the clash, though the action definitely delivered. The wrestlers looked like they were having fun. At one point, Spears audibly complained about being teabagged by Trent. Delaney worked hard, clearly relishing this AEW opportunity, and Shawn's struggle to marshall him through the bout was a hoot. They cut the Best Friends' hug spot off and Delaney went for one of his own, only for Spears to get himself the hell out of the ring, hugging Tully on the outside instead. Later, Orange Cassidy did Orange Cassidy things.

Worked at a house show clip it may have been, but there was little to complain about here. These bouts are more about entertainment than workrate and to that end, it delivered. Another W for Best Friends' record, too.
