5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Jan 19)

3. Midcard Tag Teams Show Off

The Acclaimed
AEW

Two of AEW's lower-level tag teams took their opportunities to shine last night. It started with Top Flight, who faced the debuting AJ Kirsch and KC Navarro, who looks like an effective heel. Though the enhancement wrestlers were given a couple of windows to show what they can do, the bout was mostly a canvas for the Martin brothers to once again showcase their in-ring creativity. They did that, taking the W via High Stack roll-up.

Later, we got The Acclaimed's most impressive Dark showing to date. Max Caster's bars were even on point, as he rapped on pouring water on Fuego Del Sol, before they got to working their opponents over in a straightforward but effective bout that finished when Anthony Bowens tagged in for the Critically Acclaimed and the 1-2-3.

A division as stacked as this can make it hard for lower-ranked teams to rack wins up outwith the immediate title picture. It's good to see Dark fulfilling this role.
