5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (23 Mar)

4. Blackpool Combat Club

Blackpool Combat Club
AEW

Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and William Regal finally got a name last night. AEW could scarcely have come up with something more appropriate than the Blackpool Combat Club, given His Lordship's billed-from location and his crew's new favourite hobby.

This good name came as part of a necessary Moxley promo. It'd be a stretch to say that the former World Champion had felt marginalised in the group, though his involvement was definitely underdeveloped. Here, he explained why, exactly, he was buddying up with Danielson and Regal now, saying the latter's seal of approval was the only one that ever mattered to him and that the former was a perfect wrestler. Without this, Mox may have started feeling like a spare part in the Combat Club.

Preceding all of this was another effective Mox/Danielson squash. The Varsity Blonds were this week's victims, with Julia Hart uninterested on the ring steps, still in the midst of a Malakai Black-induced transformation. Though Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison struggled briefly, both were eventually tapped out by tandem submissions.
