4. Chris Jericho Continues To Be Unwanted

25 4 Chris Jericho
AEW

Chris Jericho did his faux-sincere heel gimmick in a promo segment. Few people cared. The loud irony of the Dynasty hijack appears to be an aberration; ultimately, this hack stuff is too dull to give too much of a toss about either way.

Jericho had one genuinely great idea in his promo, you can't not give him that. His insistence that he's carrying on the legacy of Terry Funk - when the meta heat is that Jericho has never felt less relevant, beloved, or helpful - was really well measured. That was all ruined when Big Bill, former AEW World Tag Team champion - with robotic delivery that indicated he didn't fully buy into the pitch - asked Jericho to mentor him. Does being a former World champion mean nothing?

Bill felt like a green geek fresh out of developmental, a beggar difficult to take seriously. Jericho only entertained the idea of taking him under his wing, too. How low on the totem pole do you have to be for Jericho to hesitate?!

He was aligned with Jake Hager for three years! Bill is three times the hoss Hager is, and even if that's subjective, Bill is more successful in AEW's storyline canon.

He might as well have been consigned to Rampage throughout his entire run for how he was framed last night.
