5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (April 3 - Results & Review)

4. Main Event Contract Signing Continues Trend Of The Night

In the main event segment, one that felt vert early to do with two Dynamites to go until Dynasty, Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe signed the contract for their World title match at the pape. It was...mixed.

The basic gist was precisely that: basic. Joe again expressed his fury that Swerve felt entitled to his belt, and Swerve again said what he's been saying for much of the past few months: that he's going to win the title and that it all but has his name on it. Joe did get a reaction from a weak crowd by saying that he'd leave Swerve so mentally scarred that it would be like leaving a P Diddy party late. Then, after an OK promo volley, Swerve wrapped the chain around Joe's neck. In a cool moment that stressed how much of a badass Joe is, he was nonplussed, and started beating the piss out of Swerve in a blood angle.

Satisfied, he retreated up the ramp, but Swerve grabbed the mic and laughed and said: "I love this sh*t." Honestly, without the incredible ultra-violence of the Texas Death match, this just felt a little bit cornball.

Not bad, not great: the AEW World title picture is trending in the same direction.
