5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sep 24)
3. Hometown Heroes
Remember that gentle whine about Rampage possibly having one too many tag matches? Yeah, ignore it when booting up the show to watch Santana, Ortiz and Lucha Bros vs. The Butcher, Blade and Private Party. This was all-action, and it never once threatened to overstay its welcome.
10 minutes was the perfect length.
Fans in New York also popped big style for Santana and Ortiz. It's pretty amazing how they've gone from Inner Circle hoodlums to proud babyfaces who don't tolerate heel sh*t. Seeing them team up with Penta and Rey Fenix was another one of Rampage's minor thrills.
Butcher and Blade followed on from their one-off challenge for the AEW Tag Titles on last week's show with another fine showing here too. They themselves have gone from an uneven act struggling for house room to a neat addition to the tag ranks.
