5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 16)
2. An Interesting Stand Off
Meanwhile, this was just interesting.
Wardlow rushed out (hear that Darby Allin and Sting?) to stop Mark Sterling's mob from kicking Samoa Joe's head in post-main. They backed that moment up with a handshake later on, but not before both TNT and ROH TV Champs went face-to-face and teased a future match.
Wardlow vs. Joe sounds like a lot of fun, and the live crowd did react for what they were seeing. Credit to both men for working this the right way too; Joe smiled, and Wardlow had a sly grin on his face as if to say: 'Yeah, we're gonna have to revisit this soon'.
The best way to play this would be booking some follow-up during their tag match vs. Tony Nese and Josh Woods next week. A little miscue, and maybe even Joe accidentally hitting the TNT Champion, would work out nicely and maybe build towards 'Champ vs. Champ' at Full Fear.
Hey, there are worse ideas.
