5 Ups & 4 Downs from WWE Raw (16 June - Results & Review)
Freak injury, Hall-of-Famer return, and a chaotic Raw main event.
Some episodes of Raw are forever defined by one or two singular moments that occurred during the broadcast, forever defining the episode no matter what else happened during the broadcast.
For Monday’s episode, the program will be remembered for two things: Liv Morgan dislocating her shoulder, and Goldberg returning to kick off his final run as a wrestler.
Mogan’s injury came in a freak accident just seconds into her match, ending the contest immediately and possibly scuttling a few months of creative. Time will tell how severe the injury really is and how WWE will be forced to pivot. Best wishes for a quick convalescence for Liv.
Then there’s Goldberg returning to WWE and targeting the new World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. Just like that, a man who hasn’t wrestled in more than three years is now plugged in to challenge for the world title in a few weeks in his hometown. Fans who love the Hall-of-Famer are likely giddy, while others are rolling their eyes at WWE going back to this well one more time.
Other stuff happened on this episode, but as mentioned, it all becomes secondary to the two truly notable things that occurred. Overall, this Raw had a few nice moments, but they were smaller in comparison to the negatives, which outweighed the pluses. Still, this episode mostly sailed by, so there’s that.
Let’s get to it…
