5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (30 Dec - Results & Review)

DOWNS…

4. Quick Doesn’t Mean Painless

Pete Dunne R Truth
WWE

“Let’s light this Butch up!”

With that, R-Truth continued one of the dumbest, unfunniest feuds in WWE today, as he once again referred to Pete Dunne by his former moniker, which triggered the Bruiserweight to rush from the back and jump Truth in the aisle, mercifully cancelling their match.

This heatless rivalry has been going on for what seems like forever but likely has only been two months (Truth beat Dunne in less than two minutes four weeks ago), and it centers on Truth – whose entire gimmick these days seems to be the living embodiment of CTE – being unable to stop messing up and calling Dunne “Butch” despite Pete repeatedly threatening the hapless superstar.

The idea is that Dunne is so enraged by Truth’s mix-ups that he can’t control himself, but he’s also so flustered that he’s unable to actually stop Truth. And that’s about it. There’s no story beyond that, no endgame hinted, and no reason why Dunne hasn’t just wiped Truth off the face of the roster. It’s comedy without the humor, and the fact it was even booked as a match Monday night was ridiculous.

If WWE insists on putting this in the ring again, have Dunne end it, or let Truth win and send Pete packing to SmackDown to start over. But can this not carry over into 2025?
