3. Bron Reacts To First Loss

Bron Breakker losing his first main roster match at Money in the Bank might have been a questionable decision, but it was noted in the Ups/Downs column that that loss should inform what comes next for the rookie.

Monday night, Breakker gave his answer. Bron interrupted a Sami Zayn promo to admit he was surprised by the loss and that he didn’t really have an immediate path back to the Intercontinental Championship… before spearing Sami out of his shoe and pummeling the champ. Just like that, Breakker had snapped in an uncontrolled manner and set in motion actions that will likely lead to Zayn demanding a rematch at SummerSlam.

Indeed, Sami already let emotions get the best of him later on, when he ran down to try to save Ilja Dragunov from a beating, which ended with Bron standing over both injured wrestlers. Breakker looked dangerous, unhinged, and uncontrollable, all set off by Saturday’s loss.

But what makes all of this different is that Bron’s attacks on Monday were more calculated than they appear on the surface. They’re clearly in service of getting another IC title match out of Sami, who is more apt to demand it now than he would have been before the assaults. Clever masquerading as crazy.
