5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (25 July - Results & Review)
2. Bit Of A Boring Main Event
Andrade and Rey Fenix have been on fire lately, so they deserved a tag title shot vs. The Wyatt Sicks. Unfortunately, Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy are boring champs who just aren’t having great matches with anybody. Contrast and compare how slow Andrade and Fenix had to go here next to recent bouts vs. DIY and Fraxiom, for example.
At times, it was like the high-flying pair were wading through mud.
Sure, anyone who follows WWE TV routinely knows that Nikki Cross getting involved to cause the DQ would feed into a blockbuster SummerSlam announcement from Nick Aldis. That's undoubtedly exciting for the tag-team ranks on SmackDown, but WWE really need to get those belts off The Wyatts ASAP. They're strangling the division, and they're the least engaging team of the bunch between the ropes.
Sorry, but it's true. Lumis and Gacy might work in certain settings, but they're tanking the high quality portfolio squads like The Street Profits, Motor City Machine Guns, DIY, Los Garza and now the new pairing of Andrade and Fenix have been building throughout 2025. It sucks to see, and it's important that Triple H puts things right sooner rather than later.
Andrade and Rey clearly had to keep things a little less frantic for The Sicks. Otherwise, it seems, the champs would've got lost out there in a hurry and the bout would've suffered for it. There's no need to watch anything bell to bell here, sadly. Come for the TLC announcement and nothing else.
Please, please, please change the straps at SummerSlam.
