5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (April 14)
1. A Real Struggle
Nothing about the celebration for Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez worked.
They were in full on fake WWE babyface mode, but things somehow went from bad to worse when Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green hit the scene. Sonya seemed to forget her lines temporarily, and the whole face-to-face was totally unconvincing. Honestly, it was rough.
Your writer has to eat his words after claiming Liv and Raquel had no chance of becoming Women's Tag-Team Champs last week, but he really wishes they hadn't. They're one in a long line of random-feeling champions for those belts, and don't even have the same level of star-power the thrown-together Becky Lynch and Lita tandem did/do.
This wasn't good. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler getting injuries has killed this division's direction yet again; whilst their own segments had been middling too, at least they would've had some heel arrogance to fall back on. The tepid Rodriguez and Morgan friendship doesn't have anything to it.
