5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (April 16)

3. A Pointless WrestleMania Rematch

Speaking of pointless.

It's a bit crap to report that any match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn sucked, but this one did. Zayn challenged KO to a 'Mania rematch, then lost by count out and took another Stunner for his troubles. There was nothing new here to keep the story ticking along.

Both lads literally just worked this bit in Tampa, so it's unclear what WWE were hoping to achieve by repeating the same old stuff on Smackers. Maybe the rivalry isn't quite over (WrestleMania Backlash needs some 'Mania flavour, after all), but yes - this was hardly necessary and didn't progress the feud anyway.

The onus is on WWE's writers to come up with fresh scenarios. When they don't, and press the recycle button on matches that happened at Wrestle-f*cking-Mania, then they're letting the fans and roster down. KO and Sami deserve better than going through the motions.
