5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 24)

4. 'King' Corbin's Ransom

There are some on Twitter jumping down WWE's throat for failing to mention exactly how much the bounty 'King' Corbin placed on Matt Riddle's head is. This writer doesn't think a named figure is all that necessary; those same folks would likely bitch if he said something like $10,000 ('that's too little') or a bloated $100,000 ('that's too much').

Guys like Corbin can't win with a certain portion of the audience.

The shame there is that he's the perfect opponent for Riddle's first feature-length feud since moving on from NXT. Corbin is also cast as a minted royal who believes his own sh*t, so why would he need to name a price? SmackDown's proletariat should be happy to get their hands on anything he throws at them.

WWE should, however, use this revolving door of opponents to present Riddle as a dangerous ass-kicker rather than focus on some ill-wanted backstory about why he doesn't wear shoes or boots in-ring. Pretty much nobody gives a toss about that.
