5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 15)

2. Daniel Bryan’s Physical Dissection

Weirdly, Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak wasn't a patch on their stunning match at Elimination Chamber despite being roughly the same length and following the same technical format. That doesn't mean it was bad, but it wasn't quite as blistering.

The psychology was typically robust, in fairness.

Bryan spent 99% of the match constantly working over Gulak's leg and preparing for the finish. Come crunch time, he locked in a leg submission to win cleanly. It wasn't flashy as much as it was solid as hell, and yet there's just something about this pairing that looks, moves and gels so well together.

Daniel's post-match promo was another credit to the segment. He put over his passion for wrestling, as always, and made sure to put across how much the Intercontinental Title means to the locker room. There was even a handshake between friends to keep the peace.
