5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 15)
1. Sonya Deville’s Promo
Sonya Deville is oozing the same kind of edge Becky Lynch did when she first morphed into 'The Man'. That is not said lightly; Deville is just killing it right now, and she's proving that confidence is a powerful tool for anyone looking to come across as a serious threat and big star.
She's coming into her own after years of mediocrity.
This week, Dolph Ziggler said exactly nothing. He let Sonya take the floor and lay out her crazed plans to wreck Mandy Rose's life. This was the best promo WWE has run all week, and it's yet another example of how bullet point direction make things seem way more natural than word-for-word scripting ever could.
If Deville can continue cutting promos like this, and mix in some intense matches, then she can use Mandy as a springboard to the top of the division. She's 10x the heel Bayley is at the minute whether WWE like that fact or not. It might only be a matter of time before she's queen of the women's pile herself.
