5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Oct 7)
3. Some Fine Extreme Rules Build
At first, this writer didn't like the idea that valiant babyface Drew McIntyre would attack Karrion Kross from behind. Then, the more he thought about it, he realised that it makes perfect sense in the context of the feud - Kross has been ambushing him, so why wouldn't Drew fight fire with fire?
That's smart in an industry typically-obsessed with making babyfaces look foolish.
Besides, the tables turned anyway when Karrion got the upper hand and started whipping McIntyre (where was JR with his hackneyed/awkward "government mule" line?!) before strolling away like his sh*t didn't stink. Then, to enhance things even further, Drew gave Kross "the eyes".
Everything about this sold the violence and intensity fans can expect come Extreme Rules. There's no reason why these boys can't have a banger and steal the show on Saturday, especially if they manage to find a way to stop the strap gimmick from holding them back. So to speak.
