5 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (11 Aug - Results & Review)

4. An Intriguing Turn?

The beginnings of an ambitious storyline are often full of potential and wishful thinking, generating a great deal of optimism and a willingness to let things play out.

That mostly describes the reaction to Bayley’s vignette Monday night, a sit-down promo in which she lamented her situation. She commented that she’s been at this for 13 years and wants more, but feels less. Bayley referenced her “Role Model” character and how she was serving as a role model to women on the roster long before she used that moniker, but everything she had done had gotten her nowhere, and she had nothing to show for it.

She then said all of it was “my fault” before grasping her head as a ringing sound rose, giving way to a “ding-dong” and heel Bayley’s maniacal laugh.

So… what does it all mean? Given her posts on X, it seems as though she’s undergoing a Jekyll/Hyde transformation, being of two minds/personae: the sane babyface Bayley, and the crazed villain of yore.

This could be a really interesting character development. Or it could be a complete dud. But for this first week, let’s keep an open mind and see if it leads anywhere.
