3. Roman The Puppeteer

For the past few weeks, Jimmy Uso has been warning his brother Jey about the dangers of continuing take pages from Roman Reigns’ playbook, noting that it will only lead him down a bad path.

Monday, however, Reigns continued to push his cousin, riling him up about CM Punk getting a prime in-ring promo segment, which led to the breakdown between everyone in that segment. Roman also called out Jimmy, saying he was aware of Uso talking ill of copying his behavior.

Jimmy, to his credit, said he saw Roman pulling the strings and messing with Jey’s mind, but Reigns countered that Jey is now more like Roman than he is like Jimmy, and perhaps he should get out of his brother’s way.

This is the first time since returning last year that Roman really has been presented with any kind of real heel edge. He’s been widely cheered despite not doing anything truly babyface-like, but he hasn’t explicitly done anything evil or negative. Monday, he more or less admitted to manipulating his cousin with a “yeah, so?” and then suggested Jimmy get out of the way.

Whether fans accept this character direction for Roman and Jey and actually respond accordingly (rather than just blindly yeeting and raising their fingers) remains to be seen. But if you enjoy Bloodline lore, this is pretty decent stuff here.
