5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (3 Nov)

2. Lucha Showcase Undermined By Sloppiness

It was nice to see Samuray Del Sol, the former Kalisto, back in a wrestling ring last night. He is too talented to have sat idle since April, so here's hoping this is the start of a prosperous post-WWE run for him, wherever he lands.

His and Aero Star's match with FTR promised much as a clash of styles - and a potentially interesting preview of FTR vs. The Lucha Brothers at Full Gear. It delivered little, though. Undermined by sloppiness (particularly on Aero Star's behalf, with the luchador struggling to execute a number of big spots) and FTR's visible discomfort in situations like this, it failed to tell the story of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler attempting to grind down and wear out the faster, more agile wrestlers in any meaningful way.

FTR's classicism was ineffective here. Stylistically, they should be the ideal guys for a team like Del Sol and Aero Star to face, but they ended up working a wonky bout with the duo prior to Wheeler grabbing a rope for the decisive pinfall. Perhaps they'll fare better against Penta and Fenix.
