5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (3 Nov)

3. Nice Vignettes, But...

Anna Jay Jamie Hayter
AEW

The TBS Championship tournament was showcased well through a number of short vignettes last night, each highlighting an upcoming match. The participants got to say a few lines interspersed with recent bout footage, making the competition feel like an all-encompassing, promotion-wide thing, as it should be.

But the positioning and formatting of the night's sole women's bout, Anna Jay vs. Jamie Hayter, was disappointing.

The work here was solid enough. Hayter's offense is snappy and impactful, and she made for a good heel foil for the more sympathetic Jay. Unfortunately, their efforts were cannibalised by an ill-positioned commercial break that meant they only had a couple of minutes to show their work, building to a predictable interference finish featuring Britt Baker and Rebel.

Thunder Rosa's save of the three-on-two beatdown following Tay Conti's run-down keeps the tournament and mainline title program relevant. It's a shame, however, that the angle's execution was as mechanical as described in the opening Down here.
