5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (3 Nov)
4. Hangman Foils Kenny
Tony Khan announced the Kenny Omega vs. Alan Angels during a pre-Dynamtie appearance on Wrestling Observer Live. If it felt like a middle finger to the bad faith actors that hounded AEW following their first bout, that's understandable. It probably was one.
That harmless six-minuter saw Kenny ripped to shreds for daring to give Angels a few moments of offense in a competitive television squash, as if Ric Flair, who used this format liberally, never existed. Omega referenced this directly in his post-match promo, shredding Angels for "ruining his career" in a delightful parody of the internet extremists and their bewildering takes.
The bout itself was more competitive than last time, with Angels showcasing his growth as a competitive wrestler by scoring a number of well-worked, believable near-falls. Superior acumen shone through in the end, however, as a flurry of V-Triggers put Alan down once Omega decided he'd had enough.
Hangman Page starred in the night's best post-match angle, saving Angels to a big pop and almost blasting Omega with the World Title belt. His near-Buckshot Lariat felt huge. When he hits that, he's going to blow the roof off, and he was quick to remind Kenny that he only has 10 days left with the belt too.
