5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 12)

3. Orange Cassidy's 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events'

This was such a shame.

Orange Cassidy and PAC worked an electric bout at Revolution 2020, playing perfectly on their divergent characters, and were set to do the same again last night with the added stakes of a World Title shot. An ill-timed injury put an end to that. Knocked loopy early on, Cassidy endeavoured to finish a bout that PAC was forced to control in the most methodical way possible, but it was no use. AEW had to call the audible.

Don Callis' distraction and Kenny Omega's belt shot got us to the intended draw anyway. PAC, Omega, and Cassidy will contest a three-way at the pay-per-view, and AEW deserve credit for thinking fast and reaching that destination despite the injury.

Still, this wasn't a fun viewing experience. Cassidy's knock sucked the life out of Dynamite at a crucial point in its runtime, with him and PAC trapped in a helpless situation. These things happen in pro wrestling.
