5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Nov 18)
3. “A Big Test”
Hey, remember when win/loss records actually mattered in AEW and were actually a big selling point for the fact that "every match matters". Sure, the company has downplayed records in 2022, but they still show off win/loss numbers during entrances for some reason. That can hurt them on occasion - it did with Madison Rayne.
Her singles record is 3-3, but her overall win/loss scorecard makes for depressing reading; Rayne has had 11 matches since joining AEW and won exactly 3 of those. One vs. Leila Grey on Rampage, one vs. Viva Van on Dark and another vs. Diamante on Dark: Elevation.
So, it was weird to hear Excalibur claim that Athena was in for "a big test" this week. The stats don't back up your claims, masked man. Though it is Excalibur's job to talk people up, anyone following the product knows this statement had zero credibility.
Then, Athena won in a few minutes to hammer home that point.
