5 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Jan 8)

Downs...

5. Just In Case You'd Forgotten...

Forgotten Sons Imperium
WWE

Right so, surely, surely, this is going to The Forgotten Sons' year, right?

NXT desperately needs a reformed tag division in 2020. The men's title picture is good, the women's title picture is great, but the situation for the duos has underwhelmed in the extreme. A rebuild is in order but, at the heart of it, should be the brand's only consistent tag presence. They’ve had the most TV time since the move to USA, they’ve had the most promo time of any group besides UE, and while, yeah, they've got no big wins to speak of, it was all surely leading up to this.

The groundwork was set. A tournament they'd done really well in last time out and, facing them, a big name in Imperium but without Imperium's actual big names. A stable with brand recognition but who, with a match already booked at World's Collide, needs to be beaten early in the tournament. This was it. This was Forgotten Sons' big moment. This was... a squash.

Yep, this was all Aichner and Bartel with a few tiny sprinkles of offence for the FS. How they're rehabilitated this year is a task I'm not even sure NXT is up to. I give up.
