5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE NXT: Roadblock (Results & Review - 5 Mar)

4. Get Thea A Tranquillizer

Chase U

Thea Hail has been a great character since her debut as a recent high school graduate who decided to attend Chase University to continue her studies. Her cheerleader-meets-Scrappy-Doo persona has been infectious, and even her twist under Jacy Jayne’s tutelage has been nicely done in spots.

With Chase U saved via Jacy’s calendar, things should have returned to normal, but suddenly, Jacy has become the mean girl everyone thought she would have been right out of the chute, finding a new bestie in Jazmyn Nyx.

None of that on its own is bad, but the “acting” was horrible during Roadblock. Jacy and Jazmyn’s facial expressions throughout the tag match was anything but subtle, all but screaming, “We’re bored of you and couldn’t care less if you lose horribly!” Jayne’s backstage diatribe later wasn’t much better, nor was Hail reacting to Jacy’s giving her the “loser” gesture and then running off to pick a fight with Kiana James and Izzi Dame.

Maybe there’s a missing component here or we should give it more time to play out, but this felt like badly acted stuff that didn’t land how intended.
