DOWNS…

5. Bad Match, Botched Return

Sometimes, matches exist solely for the purpose of an angle development, and that’s fine… when it’s executed well.

Tuesday’s contest between Fallon Henley and Blair Davenport was short and subpar, but it took place only so Sol Ruca could make her return after being out of action for nearly a year. The two brawled outside, with Davenport running into the steel steps and propping herself up on the barricade, only for Ruca to hit a cartwheel DDT off the wall.

At least, that’s what was supposed to happen. Sol more or less whiffed, with a camera angle partly covering for it. Blair was shoved back into the ring and quickly pinned for the loss, and Ruca celebrated with Henley.

You can’t give a pass to a botched spot when it was the entire point of the backstage segment setting up this match, which existed only for said spot. It’s a shame too: Ruca is talented, and her whiff made this an underwhelming moment.
