5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (1 May - Review)

1. A Twist On The Pull-Apart Brawl

Brock Lesnar pull-apart brawls involving tons of security are pretty much a staple on WWE programming these days. It’s almost down to a science.

But Monday’s confrontation involving Lesnar and Cody Rhodes was different – and it worked. Brock interrupted the draft to call himself the only real cowboy in Texas, which led to Adam Pearce bringing out about 25 security officials to get beaten up… only they didn’t. Cody’s music hit, which seemed to indicate the battle was on… only it wasn’t.

Rhodes jumped Brock from behind and landed one punch, enough to drop Lesnar and send him rolling out of the ring. Security then stood between them and restrained Cody, while Brock… slowly retreated. It was uncharacteristic (historically, but not recently) for the Beast, and it was an odd sight to see dozens of cannon fodder security not get beaten up.

The match itself should be really good, but obviously, it would be a lot better if there was a title on the line.
