3. Rollins Tries To Nullify Heyman

WWE Raw Paul Heyman CM Punk Seth Rollins

Heading into WrestleMania 41, Seth Rollins is in a strange position. He’s the third wheel in some ways in this triple-threat main event for the first night. He is also the one who definitely won’t have someone in his corner to provide an assist if needed.

Monday night, Rollins looked to nullify that potential edge that one of his opponents might have by trying to cast doubt in Paul Heyman’s mind about both Roman Reigns and CM Punk. It’s likely a fool’s errand – Heyman is a master manipulator who can smell BS a mile away – but it’s the best play Seth had Monday night.

Everything Rollins said about Reigns abandoning Heyman was rooted in truth, while his comments about Punk were a bit of a stretch but still rang true enough. Threatening Paul E. wasn’t exactly a bright idea, but if you believe that Rollins views Heyman as an edge to either opponent, it’s in his interest to get him out of the way somehow.

The melodrama isn’t going to be for everyone, but one can make an argument that this worked at keeping fans guessing about how things will play out outside the ring, not just in the ring.
