One can’t help but feel bad for the four women in the tag match situated in the death slot Monday night.

Tegan Nox, Natalya, Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark were sent out there to die in front of a live audience just moments after they spent 20 minutes screaming their heads off for the return of The Rock, and just before a highly anticipated World Heavyweight Championship match. They never had a chance.

It didn’t help that the tag match itself was sloppy, heatless and emotionless. It was impossible to invest in a match between two duos that are barely tag teams other than being seen backstage together over the course of several weeks. Michael Cole said he’d been impressed by Nattie and Nox as a team, which was hilarious when you realize they’d had a grand total of three tag matches at that point, losing two of them.

WWE really needs to figure out how to book this tag division, because it’s just not clicking.
