1. Romanticizing Awesome Truth

To quote the Miz, “Really?”

The WWE Universe has officially gone through the looking glass, as they’ve reached the point where the Awesome Truth, a short-lived tag team of Miz and R-Truth, was being remembered fondly during a “reunion” of the duo Monday night. The occasion included Michael Cole romanticising about how they caused trouble a number of years ago, with Wade Barrett noting that they held WWE hostage at one point.

Yep, newer fans heard that correctly. Miz and R-Truth once held WWE hostage and nearly shut down an episode of Monday Night Raw. They completely befuddled Triple H and prompted a walkout of superstars, referees and announcers. They were so dominant a duo that John Cena had to pull The Rock out of retirement to vanquish Awesome Truth at Survivor Series 2011.

This is the kind of memory WWE wants to pull up in 2024? When Truth is a complete comedy character and Miz is only a step or two above that? They want to remind fans that they once booked these goofs to overthrow the authority and hold the entire roster at bay.

Next they’ll be lionizing the Social Outcasts as a faction that walked their own path.
